Somewhere around day , you will either boo! My next step is mg if didn't ovulate. Ovulation typically occurs 5 — 10 days after taking the last Clomid pill. No matter how well clomiphene works to make you ovulate, you will have difficulties getting pregnant unless you have good enough quality eggs, his sperms are OK, your tubes are open and you are at the optimal weight. And hey presto, two babies!! MZ Maheen Zaman May 18,

Best of luck with your pregnancy. I've had positive opk tests prior months on day 18 then day 16!! I'm currently on cd13 and doing opk tests twice a day. I'm hoping this round will work and I won't need a second but if I do need second then it sounds like I should go to a new specialist first and request scans etc before I up to mg. Alexandra6 and Sop80 let me know how you are getting on with the clomid!!
My 4th round of clomid was successful and I now have a 3 week ds. I too have PCOS and had very irregular periods. From the blood tests i had I usually ovulated around the 28 day mark as opposed to My last 2 rounds were 50mg. Good luck, I know quite a few people who were successful with clomid. Thanks picklepepperpiper, that's great to hear was successful!
Did you stay on 50mg? I have fairly regular periods now, been day cycles consistently for about 6 months, so am hoping this is positive sign!! I take metformin, does anyone else? Had a progesterone test on day 21 in November. Was too low but think she may have done it wrong day as only had positive opk test day 18, so she only did it about 2 days later Sorry to ramble, so many questions!!! Hey freebuttonbee I just wondered how many attempts at clomid you had before it was successful!
I took it for the first time this month, I usually get a positive opk day 18 but was day 14 this month, does clomid sometimes bring ovulation forward? I have 21 day progesterone test weds to see what's happened, am preying it worked!! These kits measure LH; as many PCOSers have an excess of this hormone to start with the kit just measures that excess level. They are also not recommended to use if you are taking clomid as clomid can and does affect hormone levels markedly.
I then had an 'ovarian drill' to remove excess cysts and was pregnant again after second round of clomid, that pregnancy resulted in DS1. When he was 5 months old I fell pregnant with DD naturally to my great surprise! I am amazed as I was told it would be very difficult to become pregnant but I now have 3 amazing DC's! She told me to take loud 50mg and test with opks from day 9. I'm on metformin too and hav been told it also helps prevent miscarriage.
My 21 day progesterone test is weds, fingers crossed!! I used clomid first month I did 50mg which didn't work and the 2nd time I had mg which worked. I think you should be scanned though. My specialist said to do ovulation tests which I did but never got a positive and I must have ovulated as I got pregnant that month!
Good luck hope it works for you. My next step is mg if didn't ovulate. I am getting positive ovulation tests around the right day of month though, so my previous progesterone blood test may have just been done too early for my cycle I got positive opk day 18 and was day 19 as 21 fell on a Sunday!! I'm hoping this test is good as had clomid his month and got a positive opk on day 14!! Has anyone taken etformn Nr clomid??
Let me know how you get on, my progesterone test is tomorrow, although I'm convinced it hasn't work I'm so nervous, I don't want to be told it didnt work!! Freebutton bee did you get a ton of symptoms as soon as you fell pregnant? Did you know right away you were pregnant? Zebs - I will, although I'm not too worried as I was ovulating before! My doc just reckons it might not happen every month. Don't feel any different yet despite doing everything we should have this month!
Good luck for tomorrow x. Hi guys can anyone answer me!!! Panicking a bit just discovered my bd sperm results had problems, volume and mobility ok but head deformities, he wasn't v forthcoming when he had first test and now it's come out he needs another! I'm angry and upset and worried, also that wasted going on clomid!!! Don't panic - there are things that can be done to improve sperm quality.
Cutting down on booze, smoking and fatty processed foods and also taking a good quality zinc supplement can help. Try to find an independent health food shop not Holland and Barratt and go speak to them. If its a hormonal issue, the hospital can potentially prescribe something. Its not a deal breaker honestly. Zebs Semen analysis often has to be repeated; one poor test result does not necessarily mean there is a male factor issue. He's probably kept quiet because he erroneously thinks that a poor result is linked to his virility.
This does illustrate two important points;- 1. Many doctors however will monitor you using ultrasound equipment and blood work to tell you the best time to try to conceive or may combine it with a treatment like IUI. Ovulation prediction kits are sensitive to the luteinizing hormone LH. While most medications will have no effect on the test results, there are a certain sector of medications that can have a very real effect.
These medications are often prescribed for infertility. If a woman is not producing enough LH she may not be able to conceive. For this reason, some infertility medications contain LH to improve the chances of fertility. Several infertility medications can cause the ovulation kit to test falsely positive. These include Clomid, Pergonal, Humegon and Repronex. Clomid can cause an ovulation prediction kit to test positive even when the woman is not ovulating.
According to the manufacturer of Clomid, three days should pass between the last day taking the Clomid and the first day testing for ovulation. For instance, if the medication is taken for 10 days, it is okay to start using the ovulation prediction kit on the 14th day. There could be enough LH in these medications to boost the natural LH levels to a point that looks like a spike. While this spike will not be the true spike noticed immediately before ovulation, the test will not be able to differentiate the difference between the two.
Other infertility medications like Gonal-F, Follistem and Fertinex contain only the follicle stimulating hormone. These should not have any effect on the ovulation prediction kit as the kit does not test for FSH. Before starting to use an ovulation prediction kit, make sure to ask a pharmacist or your prescribing physician whether the medication causes a boost in natural LH or contains LH. Like all fertility treatments, there are no guarantees.
Even if you do ovulate while on clomid, you still need the egg and sperm to meet, for fertilization to occur and then implantation. Some women will become pregnant and others will move onto other treatments. Before taking Clomid you should have some tests done to make sure you take it for the right reasons. Do a sperm count before starting to take Clomid. It makes no sense taking Clomid when he has a low sperm count! Pelvic sonogram to check for fibroids and ovarian cysts If a woman is menstruating, even if irregularly, clomiphene is usually effective.
Women with irregular menstrual cycles ovulate infrequently. They are usually excellent candidates for clomiphene treatment since more frequent ovulation presents more opportunities to become pregnant. If you don't get pregnant on clomiphene that doesn't mean it did not work. It may have worked and it may have made you ovulate but pregnancy in and by itself is not the only measure that clomiphene worked. Getting pregnant is more complicated than just ovulation. In order to get pregnant the following has to happen:.
So how do you know that Clomid has worked? What is is supposed to do? Yes, it's that simple. In fact, not every woman will ovulate on clomiphene and many women who ovulate will not get pregnant. With or without clomiphene. Obviously if you get pregnant then you know that you did ovulate, but let's not get ahead of this. You take clomiphene for 5 days usually cycle days but you can start taking clomiphene as early as cycle day 2. Ovulation is then supposed to happen about days later.
Before you start taking the first dose of Clomid you must find out exactly what "Day One" of the menstrual period is. For women that do not ovulate on their own, the average day that ovulation occurs is about 8 to 10 days after completing a 5 day course of Clomid. Most doctors start Clomid at 50 mg a day for 5 days. If you do ovulate on Clomid the 1 most important information when taking Clomid!
Increasing Clomid when you are already ovulating on a lower dose is not only unneccessary, but it could in fact decrease your chances getting pregnant. While there is generally no total number of cycles of Clomid that should be done before moving on to other fertility treatments, there are several variables involved in the decision about moving on to more aggressive therapy.
If a woman is not ovulating on a low dose of Clomid, the dose should be increased. If not ovulating at mg then other therapies should be attempted. If you ovulate then your menstrual period is supposed to come 14 days after ovulation.
